The congregation of Prince of Peace Baptist Church was established on Sunday, May 25, 2008, based on Acts 2:42-47 when 100 followers of Christ met at 3701 North 35th Street. In this meeting Rev. Steven R. McVicker shared the vision that God gave him to advance the Kingdom of God. This group of dedicated souls organized the church under the leadership of Pastor Steven R. McVicker.
The question of a name came up and Pastor Steven R. McVicker suggested that since the goal was Peace in worshipping the Lord, the church adopted the name “Prince of Peace Baptist Church”; this newly organized church was thus named. And that is how Prince of Peace got its name.
On April 5, 2008, God blessed the membership with a building that was paid for by Pastor Steven R. McVicker and First Lady Shawn McVicker. The building located at 3701 North 35th Street, only needed some work to bring the old sanctuary to present standings we have now outgrown our present church building. Rev. Steven R. McVicker is founder and is the first Pastor of Prince of Peace Baptist Church and the members have worshipped and praised
the Lord in this building for approximately
13 years.
The initial meeting to organize a church was held on July 12, 2008, with 45 believers in attendance. On Sunday, July 13, 2008, 33 more believers were united with Prince of Peace Baptist Church and as
of today we are still growing by his grace.
